Francis Magalona Dead at 44
Francis Magalona died today at 12 noon from Leukemia at the Medical City Hospital. He had struggled with the disease for seven months before passing away.
Last August, Francis M informed people in Eat Bulaga where he was a host that he had been diagnosed with Leukemia and he would have to undergo treatment immediately.
Since his diagnosis on August 8, 2008 (08-08-08), he had been to a series of chemotherapy rounds, bone marrow transplants, blood transfusions, and different medications, all of which he shared in his Multiply site and a website especially dedicated to his medical adventures that he named Happy Battle, named after one of his albums.

Throughout his battle, he had kept a positive attitude, continuing with his business, and even managing to make a special project together with Ely Buendia called The Sickos Project aimed to inspire everyone that sickness is not an excuse to be great. Ely even added about the album they made, “Itong album na ‘to, we’re doing basically for two reasons. First is to have a venue or way para makatulong kami sa mga artist na tulad namin. The second one, is basically to celebrate being alive and being able to still play music.”
Francis M has been a great influence to a lot of people’s patriotism. He’s probably the proudest Pinoy I’ve ever met, and he expresses it in his music, his t-shirt designs, his ink, his photos, basically every way he can.
Since the announcement of his death his song Kaleidoscope World has been simultaneously playing in different radio stations as tribute to him. It’s one of my favorite songs, and in it is a phrase I consider my mantra, “You can’t talk peace and have a gun.”
Francis Magalona, Francis M, Master Rapper, Sir Kiko, The Man from Manila, or however you call him is more than a rapper, actor, TV host, photographer, businessman. Most importantly he’s a music icon and an inspiration to Filipinos. He may be gone physically, but his legacy will surely continue to live on for years to come.

my deepest sympathy bro kiko…we hang around in galas balic balic way back in early 80’s with nonoy heneroso, philip january and darwin tuazon…sad to hear…dito na pala ako sa estados unidos laking gimbal ko sa balitang yumao ka na…hindi ako nanonood ng telebisyon nabalitaan ko lang to sa mga tabarkads natin…it’s been 27 years tol…larawan mo na lang nakita ko…di ko kilala ang pamilya mo at wala din akong alam sa sirkulasyon ng naging buhay mo pre pero kung may maitutulong ako sa pamilya mo nandito ako para tumulong…sana mabasa to ng family mo kahit paano maikwento ko naman yung mga gimik natin nung araw…rock on tol…you’re in a better place na…!

master rapper ur d best… kahit po ilang linggo na po kayong lumisan, pero minsan bigla nalang kayong pumapasok sa isipan koh, at habang pinakikinggan ko ung mga songs nyo specially ung kaleidoscope world hindi ko parin mapigilang hindi umiyak…wala po kayong ka2lad, ur the one and only master rapper not only in the phils. but in the whole wide world..
