Dennis Trillo
Dennis Trillo is a puzzle. ”There’s this mystery behind those eyes,” says his frequent director, Dominic Zapata. Though he has worked with Dennis on five television shows (Kahit Kailan, Twin Hearts, Mulawin, Darna, Super Twins), Director Dominic says he has yet to unravel that mystery, but it’s what makes Dennis a magnet for women. “What makes him attractive –he looks deep. He looks intense. I mean his eyes are powerful.”
The air of mystery is mostly of Dennis own making. Unlike young actors who tend to get rowdy on the set, Dennis usually keeps to himself, without being a snob. “He doesn’t mind not getting attention,” says Dominic, adding that Dennis is probably thinking: “If you notice me, that’s fine. But if not, that’s also okay with me.”
Not that Dennis doesn’t let his hair down when needed. Dominic recalls one rainy day when he discovered something new about Dennis: “We were doing Mulawin and we were caught in the rain. And this hut had a karaoke machine. While waiting for the rain to stop, we went on singing. ‘Then he passed the microphone to Dennis. He set the machine to play Bed of Roses.’ Wow! He did it. I never thought how great he could sing!
Except for days like those, and when he’s facing a mike in his new parallel career as a singer (he has just come out with a self-titled album under Music Records), you can find Dennis in a corner, just chilling, being an average Joe. “If there’s something that sets him apart,” says Dominic, “It’s that he’s very unassuming and he never imposes. And unobtrusive.”
